Respiratory Care is an allied health specialty involved in the treatment, management, and diagnostic evaluation of patients with problems of the cardiopulmonary system. Respiratory Care is one of the most dynamic allied health fields, undergoing a continuous process of discovery and improvement in both therapeutic techniques and related modes of mechanical assistance. The Wilmington and Owens Campus programs are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC), 264 Precision Blvd., Telford, TN 37690, [phone], and prepare students for the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Entry Level and Advanced Practice Examinations. Courses are offered on campus and at a variety of clinical affiliates. Academically ready students can apply to the program following the guidelines of the Allied Health competitive admission process. Program Graduate Competencies

Delaware Tech does not apply blanket age limits to courses for the purposes of transfer in, meeting selective admission programs' ranking/entrance procedures, or meeting program requirements for award completion. There is a five year age limit used in the selective admission procedures for the Respiratory Care program for BIO 120, CHM 110, and MAT 162.
