Upon completion of this course, the student will:

  1. Examine the legislative and regulatory processes related to the delivery of healthcare at local, state, and national levels.
    1. Describe the legislative process and how a bill becomes a law.
    2. Differentiate among the various local, state, and national regulatory processes.
    3. Discuss laws and regulations that impact healthcare and nursing practice.

  2. Examine financial literacy initiatives and funding sources that effect equitable healthcare access and delivery.
    1. Compare and contrast public and private funding sources.
    2. Discuss the impact of financial literacy on equitable healthcare delivery and resources.

  3. Analyze factors that impact the formation of healthcare policy.
    1. Discuss the effects of healthcare policy on social justice and equitable healthcare outcomes.
    2. Examine the impact of politics, culture, and technology on the formation of healthcare policy.
    3. Examine the impact of regulatory agencies on healthcare delivery.

  4. Analyze the impact of health policy on the nursing profession and the healthcare delivery system.

Evaluation Criteria/Policies

The grade will be determined using the Delaware Tech grading system:

90-100 = A
80-89 = B
70-79 = C
0-69 = F
