Measurable Performance Objectives (MPOs)

Upon completion of this course, the student will:

  1. Compose a variety of well-structured creative writing pieces such as short story, poetry, memoir, flash fiction, and drama for diverse audiences.
    1. Compose a well-organized and effectively written short story.
    2. Compose well-organized and effective creative works from genres other than short stories.
    3. Compose free writes and writing exercises that demonstrate creative writing techniques.
  2. Compose well-structured essays/commentaries on literature for diverse audiences.
    1. Compose literature commentaries that analyze text.
    2. Compose appropriate and effective commentaries based on student work.
  3. Revise creative writing documents to ensure clarity, completeness, and conciseness.
    1. Apply revision strategies to creative writing assignments.
  4. Participate in discussion of student short stories and literature.
    1. Lead a discussion of an assigned piece of literature.
    2. Participate in discussions of literary works.

Evaluation Criteria/Policies

The grade will be determined using the Delaware Tech grading system:

90-100 = A
80-89 = B
70-79 = C
0-69 = F
