Measurable Performance Objectives (MPOs)

Upon completion of this course, the student will:

  1. Determine the relationship of voltage, current, and resistance in electrical circuits.
    1. Determine the power output of circuits by the use of Ohm's Law.
    2. Solve series direct current (DC) linear circuits in terms of voltage, resistance, current, and power.
    3. Solve parallel DC linear circuits in terms of voltage, resistance, current, and power.
  2. Assess voltage, current, resistance, and continuity.
    1. Identify resistor values by color band and measure resistor values.
    2. Identify resistor nominal values and tolerances.
    3. Determine the range of resistors by calculating the lower and upper limits from the nominal value.
    4. Collect voltage, current, resistance, and continuity data in a circuit.
  3. Evaluate and measure capacitance and inductance.
    1. Compute total capacitance of capacitors in a series, parallel, or series-parallel configuration.
    2. Compute total inductance of inductors in a series, parallel, or series-parallel configuration.
    3. Assemble and collect capacitance and inductance data using electrical circuit diagrams.
  4. Analyze, interpret, and troubleshoot aircraft electrical circuit diagrams, including solid state devices and logic functions.
    1. Recognize electrical wiring diagrams and symbols.
    2. Troubleshoot electrical circuits, including logic and transistors circuits.
  5. Inspect and service batteries.
    1. Demonstrate proper procedures for inspecting and servicing lead-acid and nickel-cadmium batteries.

The grade will be determined using the Delaware Tech grading system:

90-100 = A
80-89 = B
70-79 = C
0-69 = F
