Measurable Performance Objectives (MPOs)

Upon completion of this course, the student will:

  1. Prepare and modify documents suitable for distribution using computer software.
    1. Illustrate proper text formatting
    2. Complete typographical and spelling corrections.
    3. Produce memos and letters suitable for distribution.
    4. Prepare business documents that meet industry standards.
    5. Demonstrate how to format personal titles and complimentary closings in business and personal-business letters.
  2. Use the keyboard to input text and numbers.
    1. Demonstrate how to keyboard by touching letter, figure, and symbol keys with acceptable techniques.
    2. Manipulate parts of a keyboard such as the enter key, tab key, space bar, control (ctrl), and shift keys.
    3. Construct and modify various types of tables.
  3. Construct business-related communication such as letters, reports, tables, and memos.
    1. Prepare business letters with bullets and numbered lists in block, modified-block, single-page, and multi-page formats using word processing software.
    2. Prepare one-page simple reports and multi-page reports with bullets, numbered lists, enumerations, indentations, and pagination using word processing software.
    3. Construct properly formatted memos.
    4. Identify proofreader’s marks when proofing copy.
    5. Develop personal and/or business letters, memos with lists, and letters with copy notations.
    6. Rewrite keyed copy to correct errors.

Evaluation Criteria/Policies

The grade will be determined using the Delaware Tech grading system:

90-100 = A
80-89 = B
70-79 = C
0-69 = F
